Compensation will always be a predicament not by teachers alone but everyone in the bureaucracy, in private or in government service. In the Philippines, a public school teacher is maybe one of the best paid employees in government because they have one of the best rating system to obtain the proportionate remuneration to one’s competence. They have to earn merits and units in advance studies to progress to a rank where salary grades are much higher than an ordinary teacher.

We can articulate that teachers do have the longest work period than anybody else and it is true; however they have also the longest paid vacation than any civil servant in the labor force in which they have the time to be more professionally capable, earn the required units to advance to the ensuing higher rank and the passport to a higher pay.
