the concept of morality maybe defined in two opposing ways:
1) that morality is absolute; that there's a universally accepted norms that define what things are moral and what things are not.
2) that morality is relative to the context of the society; that whatever are considered as the norms of a particular society, then those are what are considered to be moral: ex. in a society that encourages people to make human sacrifices for their deity, a person who refuses to make a sacrifice would be deemed immoral, while those who do would be moral
so, with that, do you think Morality is relative (or specific) to every society, or is it absolute (and encompasses everyone)?

Di ko alam? We (preachers of God's Word) must not moralize alone but proclaim that all man are sinners and hostile in the eyes of God and Jesus Christ is the only way for salvation. And because God is absolute, His laws is also absolute. But morality (bible based) is a must for us and we love the demands of God.

so, just to clarify...
to you, morality is absolute? i have further questions once you reply to this one.

i would answer relative po. kasi a culture is shaped by its environment. if we think morality is absolute we then judge people or cultures by our standards. what may work for us po may not work for them.
e.g. westerners think pinikpikan si a cruel dish ( i think its taste by the way) kasi torture mo muna yung ibon bago mo kainin. eh yung veal (calves that are kept in a very unnatural envrionment) ba di cruel? hmmm

before we can say whether morality is absolute or relative, wouldn't it be right first if we define what morality is?
so blackdragon, give d definition and we will based our arguments on that...
1. descriptively, to refer to a code of conduct put forward by a society or,
some other group, such as a religion, or
accepted by an individual for her own behavior or
2. normatively to refer to a code of conduct that, given specified conditions, would be put forward by all rational persons.
so, on that defintion.
morality would seem to be both.
relative, when it refers to a code of conduct put forward
by a certain society,
and absolute, when it refers to a code of conduct
that could be put forward by ALL rational persons
regardless of his race, creed, or even the time he is in.
as long as that person is rational.
kasi nga it is dictated po by the society na kinagisnan natin, e papaano po kung maligaw tayo sa ibang liblib na lugar at ang morals are completely different with ours...de tayo naman ang magiging imoral?? ay...mag nagsabi na yata nito..
so yun po ang paniwala ko.
