Who has the best calling card from US to PI Cell?

Hi,

I live in the US and sorry do not speak much Tagalog, please reply in English if that is OK... I am wanting to call friends and relatives in Tarlac City and they have SMART PrePay Cell phones. I want the BEST connection I can have and the cheapest services as well. So far the best is Skype at 25 US Cents per minute and the quality is excellent but it is WAY to expensive each month. Are there any good phone cards? I have not found any that are cheap and don't have hidden surcharges and work any better with Smart Cell Phones? Also are there any GOOD unlimited services per month to call a US phone number and have it forward???

Please let me know if anyone has any ideas your help is much appreciated!

Lester

Ultimately, the solution to your problem would be either a Magicjack or Ooma.
Magicjack: magicJack
Ooma: Free Home Phone Service | Ooma

Magicjack is the cheaper solution in the short term of cost as 1 unit costs $39.95 (first year of use is free, succeeding years the service is $19.95 a year) as opposed to Ooma which costs $199.99 or upwards (depending on model), and if you don't opt in for the "premier service" it is only a one time cost that you'd have to pony up.

Magicjack is a USB dongle that plugs into a desktop or laptops USB port and then a regular phone is plugged into it. Provided the desktop or the laptop has a internet connection it will let the user to place and receive calls as if they were in the United States.

Ooma is device that you merely plug in a internet connection and a regular phone, no need to use a Computer or to keep the same-said Computer turned on and it can make and receive US phone calls.

Both solutions will require you to do a one-time setup where they will choose which State and Area code to use to get your US based Phone Number.

I forgot to mention, that you can buy and activate a Vonage phone service here in the US, and have the unit shipped to the Philippines for them to use, the same as Ooma, plug it into a ethernet jack, and a phoneline, there is a monthly $20something fee for it.

As for long distance cards, there is pennytalk and a few others, but the cost always out out to about 13cents to 19cents a minute.
