HTC Losing Grip and ‘Relevance’ –Turbulent Future Predicted for the Smartphone Giant
|
Quote:

Despite holding on to the*number-five spot in terms of total global Smartphone shipments, analysts have expressed concern that HTC is quickly losing its appeal and relevance in the face of increasingly affordable rivals.
In a recently released report from keyBarclays*Capital*analysts, HTC is falling from its initial place right at the top of the pecking order for pioneering new-generation*Androidhandset, with a*number*of smaller rival companies having already made significant ground and threatening further advances.
According to analyst opinions, HTC has pegged a great many hopes on growth and success in the Chinese market, but such hopes may prove to be unfounded.
Reports from the Far East have suggested that Smartphone chipmaker by the name of MediaTek is to begin providing developers across China with high-end chips around Q3 this year, which will allow a*number*of smaller, independent rival brands to produce a much higher standard of Smartphones for lower prices.
Should this be the case, analysts expect that the flurry of affordable devices perhaps around the mid-range of the technology stakes will really hit HTC where it hurts.HTC currently relies on China for over 10% of its annual revenue and the market is expected to become increasingly significant over the years and decades to come.
Should MediaTek go ahead and spark the creation of feature-heavy Smartphones around the $200 mark, this would then leave HTC with only the upper-ranks to target with their high-end devices. However, recent talks between*China Mobile*and Apple suggest that*the iPhone*4S or iPhone 5 may be scheduled to make an appearance on the network in the very near future, most likely swallowing up the vast majority of high-end*consumers.
China mobile*current has in excess of 600 million*subscribers*and counting.
For the month of April, HTC posted a net profit fall of 70% for Q1 of 2012, after losing enormous ground to both the Samsung Galaxy S2 and Apple iPhone during the closing quarter of 2011.

They choose not to go as feature rich as Samsung did with the Galaxy series of Phones, for 2 and a half years their releases were lackluster. Unless they get their act together, this stories painted future may come to pass.

Not only are these HTC phones ridiculously expensive, they're also ridiculously slow! I've tinkered on an HTC phone with android and man is it SLOW! Fresh out of the box and the drop down banner from the stop chops (not lags) when i pull it down. I gave it some time maybe it needs to breath out a bit from the start up but no! heck the scrolling is also as horrible.
I forgot the model type but it's said to be in the double digit bracket in peso... and heck my old galaxy 5 works so so so much smoother than it considering that it's only a corby android. more like a prototype droid
