Hinde nila lulusubin ang China through military means. They will fight them via cyberspace. Sa araw-araw na ginawa ng mga Chinese, their tech soldiers is constantly bombarding the U.S. with cyber attacks.
If you bring down a nation's economy, talo na siya.

I don't think they are partners. Pretty much America gave up their livelihood to China. Marami nawalan ng trabaho dito, companies nag sara dahil sa paglipat ng labor sa China. Halos every item I pick up at the stores..."Made in China". I hate it because these never last!! Mura nga mumurahin naman ang quality kaya napapamura ako ng husto.
the Philippines and Vietnam ain't gonna do a da*mn thing about the island.

It should, or the lessons of Pearl Harbor have not been well-learned. Let me quote the following from my paperback:
"Wilson's proposals were initially greeted with enthusiasm in the United States and around the world. The U.S. Senate, however, was less impressed. Republican Senate Leader Henry Cabot Lodge considered the League of Nations--and the very concept of international law--as an encroachment on American sovereignty, a foolish constraint on American's ability to impose its will around the world. Aided by traditional isolationists in both parties (many of whom had opposed American entry into World War I), as well as Wilson's stubborn unwillingness to compromise, the Senate refused to ratify U.S. membership in the League.
"For the next twenty years, America turned resolutely inward--reducing its army and navy, refusing to join the World Court, standing idly by as Italy, Japan, and Nazi Germany built up their military machines. The Senate became a hotbed of isolationism, passing a Neutrality Act that prevented the United States from lending assistance to countries invaded by the Axis powers, and repeatedly ignoring the President's appeals as Hitler's armies marched across Europe. Not until the bombing of Pearl Harbor would America realize its terrible mistake. 'There is no such thing as security for any nation--or any individual--in a world ruled by the principles of gangsterism,' FDR would say in his national address after the attack. 'We cannot measure our safety in terms of miles on any map anymore.'"

it is in the best interest of the US to not let another military power get a foot hold in that area of the seas.

So, what's new with this issue?
Philippine warship in standoff with Chinese vessels
|
Quote:
|
MANILA, Philippines- The Philippine Navy's largest warship is engaged in a standoff with Chinese surveillance vessels preventing the arrest of Chinese fishermen in a disputed shoal at the West Philippine Sea (South China Sea), the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Wednesday.
The DFA said that the standoff between the Philippine Navy's BRP Gregorio del Pilar and two Chinese maritime surveillance vessels -- Zhonggou Haijian 75 and Zhonggou Haijian 84 -- is currently happening at the mouth of the Panatag Shoal (formerly called Scarborough), which is within the disputed Spratly Group of Islands.
It said that the BRP Gregorio del Pilar was on its regular patrol last Sunday (April 8) around the Philippine-claimed shoal when it spotted the eight Chinese fishing vessels, anchored within the lagoon of the shoal.
"In the morning of 10 April 2012, Tuesday, BRP GREGORIO DEL PILAR, in accordance with the established Rules of Engagement, dispatched a boarding team to inspect the fishing vessels and collect photos and other evidence of their catch. The inspection team reported that large amounts of illegally collected corals, giant clams and live sharks were found inside the compartments of the first fishing vessel that was boarded by the PN (Philippine Navy) team," the DFA reported.
As Philippine authorities were moving to apprehend the crewmembers of the Chinese fishing vessels, the two Chinese maritime surveillance vessels sailed to the mouth of the shoal and placed themselves between the Philippine Navy vessel and the fishing vessels, "thus preventing the arrest of the erring Chinese fishermen."
The Philippines and China are among the countries claiming territorial ownership of the disputed islands. The other claimants are Brunei, Malaysia and Vietnam.

A vintage 1960s era Patrol Boat is "warship"??
And who were they going against?
Oh, yeah..that's right. A Chinese Fishing boat. I am sure this fishing boat was armed to the teeth with sophiticated and deadly fishing hooks.

Naming
Originally the Philippine Navy's Organizational and Manpower Management Committee, which deliberated on the possible names for the vessel, came up with three candidate names — Barko ng Republika ng Pilipinas (BRP) Lapu-Lapu, BRP Gregorio del Pilar, and BRP Jose Torres Bugallon. Ultimately the panel confirmed the name Gregorio del Pilar in honor of the young general of the Philippine Revolution who was the hero of the Battle of Tirad Pass during the Philippine-American War where he lost his life.

Sadly, hindi kayang makipag-sabayan sa China; kahit na saang anggulo natin tignan. Hopefully the court of public opinion will favor us. Don't listen to China's warning not blow the whole issue into an international level; hello??!!!?? you're invading the Philippine's sovereignty.

China is once again being an arse.. haist, another island to claim? nakakasawa na, were always being threatened or bullied.
I think its best we let an international organization to check on these matter, halip na ganito na puro "stand-0ff kuno" and dirty tactics ang ginagawa. Its pathetic as well as frustrating that our govt. can't even do a damn thing about it.
If only the failed satellite launch of NK dropped in china.. now that would be great !
