High school girl banned from graduation over Facebook ‘bikini photo’
The Catholic defenders of Hypocrisy are at it again.
The age old practice of the Roman Catholic leaders to "bully" their followers into submission is very much alive and well.

"CEBU CITY, Philippines—For posing in a bikini, and posting photos in her Facebook account, a 16-year-old girl won’t be allowed to attend her graduation ceremony on Friday.
The punishment meted by St. Theresa’s College high school was called “too harsh” and “unjust” by her mother, a resident of Lapu-Lapu City, who sued officials of the private Catholic school.
Regional Trial Court Judge Wilfredo Navarro Tuesday ordered the school to show him a copy of the photos, and the Student Handbook which bans several actions, including “engaging in immoral, indecent, obscene or lewd acts.”
“I will have my own standards on whether or not it is lewd,” said the judge in a court hearing on the mother’s petition of injunction and damages.
His decision will have to be made soon if the student hopes to join her graduation class in marching up the stage to receive a diploma on March 30."

HaHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! Reality is, such governs only apply while "in schoool grounds" and not in public. They should not even look into Facebook for the sole purpose of looking for reasons to punish their students.
As the saying goes, "Let the one who has not sinned, throw the first stone.."

This is what I mean when I talk about these Catholic Defenders of Hypocricy:
They would "punish" and humiliate a 16 year old for wearing a bikini and posting it in Facebook.
But these very same Catholic priests and nuns will hide a priest who has sodomized little boys.
And they will not even report these crimes to the authorities. And if it is brought out in the open, they will rather defend the priest rather than the victim.
This is what pisses me off.

da fuq did i just read? Seriously they should let her graduate!
--
Given na may picture siya on fb wearing a bikini, a bikini is just a bikini. come on..its not a crime to wear a swimwear lalu na ngayong summer. I haven't heard anyone gets convicted just by wearing a demn bathing suit.. and lewd? i guess their argument is valid IF and ONLY IF may something na nakikita na di dapat makita or sadyang seductive talaga ung picture at naka tag ang school nya sa picture haha.
hay srsly people in church really needs to grow up :3

So what kung magbikini siya? Let her flaunt her body! Hahaha
Kasama ba sa policies ng school nila ang dress code kahit sa labas ng eskwela? Baka naman insecured lang ang school heads sa kanya? Hahaha.

“STC is a Catholic school governed by the teachings of the Catholic Church. We have to see to it that values are formed,” Balili told reporters after the hearing.

Values?
The only values this teaches children is that it's okay to discriminate and meddle in matters outside of the institution's jurisdiction if it's done in the name of the church/religion. So wearing a bikini is immoral but discrimination is not?

Among the rules allegedly violated were: l. possession of alcoholic drinks outside the school campus 2. engaging in immoral, indecent, obscene or lewd acts 3. smoking and drinking alcoholic beverages in public places 4. apparel that exposes underwear and 5. posing and uploading pictures on the Internet that entail ample body exposure.
|
Obviously the reason the school imposed these rules is not primarily for its students' welfare, but for the school's image. Again, these rules are imposed in areas outside of their jurisdiction. Good moral conduct my foot. These forbidding rules only encourage students to hide these activities where their safety can really be endangered, instead of allowing them to openly seek adults' counsel about coming-of-age pursuits.

It was signed by the student with a promise not to commit the offenses again. Her mother signed “Conforme” to attest that the principal or discipline-in-charge “has conferred with me regarding my daughter’s misdemeanor and the corresponding sanctions.”
|
If I were the mother I'd let my daughter graduate then transfer her to a secular school where you don't have to deal with that kind of dogmatic bullshit. With fundamentalist rules like that, the school clearly places a premium on their mind control and image over quality education.

hey freya did you not graduate from a school whose name's first three letters i love?
seriously , no sarcasm or whatnot, the student was enrolled in that institution hence she is expected to abide by the rules and regulation of said school , here it is the student handbook. and yes it is correct to say that an organization has a right to protect it's image. hence i cannot say that the student was not at fault here.
however i am finding this weird in our society ... have the catholic church (as represented by the school) borrowed something from the wahhabi's or have regressed back to the middle ages?
