If I were to boycott chinese products...
with the country's current dispute with china, a lot of our countrymen has raised the notion of boycotting Chinese goods (or even just a hint of chinese) to show their protest. But, doing so, what are the things that I would be missing?
some that i can think of are the following:
1. Mobile Phone: Cherry Mobile
2. Automotive: Cherry QQ, Lifan?
3. Gadgets and Devices: CD-R King, Lenovo Laptops,
4. milk with melamine?

madaling sabihin, pero mahirap mangyari. everywhere you look, andyan ang chinese products, in whole or in parts. sa mga electronic items, majority ng parts manufactured in china. kumain ka sa fast food chains, mga plastic cups/spoons/forks nila gawang china, pati na mga pang kiddie meals nila. gadgets, mostly gawang china rin. even items na galing sa ibang bansa, kahit na galing america, majority pa rin manufactured in china. sasabihin mong ibo-boycott mo gawang china, but in other ways, nasu-support mo nang hindi mo alam.

"Minimize" would be the word. We can't completely boycott their products since they're all over the world. and since we're at it, why not to minimize all unnecessary buying of things? tipid pa sa bulsa.

as they say, God made the world in six days, china made the rest
ang hirap, hindi naman cguro ganun kalaki ang effect if we boycott their products, even if we stop trading with them, i think they wont feel the effect, kita cguro ang lugi if china and pinas stop trading

I agree with this. Just because you can't completely boycott something doesn't mean the exact opposite -- that you'll continue patronizing their products as much as you used to. It's not an all-or-nothing case. Every little bit of help counts, the same way that every bit of inaction adds up to nothing.
My family has been consciously minimizing our patronage of Chinese products and Chinese-owned services for several years now, mainly because of dubious product quality, the fact that they're lining their pockets through local labor and clientele, and because it's our way of supporting local business enterprises. Love your own, ika nga.

...also not the "finished product" per se, but some other country products, for example, a gadget made in US, that gadget is only made (or assembled) in US, but the other parts of it like integrated circuits and microchips, i doubt if there's no MADE IN CHINA inside of it...

I have to say that I agree with every post in this thread. we cant cease to use every Chinese product or anything with a hint of chinese influence because they are already embedded deep on our daily routines. And, even if we do so, it would hurt us more than it would hurt them, and that there is very little that we can do to hurt them.. well, other than inflicting physical pain.
but, even though this might be the case, still, it won't hurt so much if we refrain from patronizing substandard and smuggled products sold on the streets, and other pirated goods. and that if possible, opt to choose local brands over their Chinese counterparts.

Over,
I would like to point out, that you have a very limited view of "chinese-made products".
If Filipinos were to truly "boycott" Chinese-made products, then they would be left with nothing.
Here are a few of Chinese-made products:
Nike
Addidas
Puma
Apple Ipod
Apple Ipad
Apple Computers
Denim jeans including Levi's jeans
98% of all the shirts sold in Malls and stores
Bags, including signature brands such as Louis Vitton
Engine spare parts

Nakakahinayang. At gagamitin lamang ng Tsina ang kinikitang pera mula sa buong munda ang paggawa ng armas at sandata upang to take over this world.
I'm already doing my part. When I am fully aware that a product I see in the market is Made in China then I stay away and choose another. A fine example is my investment in G Shocks. I buy only either made in Japan or made in Thailand. Kapag made in China na then I do not buy it.

well, in my defense sir bishop, the items that i have mentioned does not reflect the entirety of my view regarding goods tainted by chinese work process. they were merely a spur-of-the-moment list generated as an additional insight in the thread. I believe that it is already common knowledge that one way or another, one component of the device we are using, be it another module or raw material, or even the manpower used for assembly, it has a hint of the Chinese workforce.
