MARAMI pang plano sa buhay si John Lloyd Cruz, mapa-personal man o propesyonal. Marami pa siyang gustong patunayan bilang artista.

Pero, hindi niya puwedeng basta-basta pabayaan ang tambalan nila ni Bea Alonzo, dahil kung wala ang loveteam nila, marahil ay hindi raw niya mararating ang kinatatayuan ngayon.

Isang hamon para kay John Lloyd ang gampanan ang role na Armando Solis sa I Love Betty La Fea ng ABS-CBN. Wala naman siyang pangamba dahil gamay na gamay na nila ni Bea ang isa’t isa.

Excited din ang aktor sa pelikulang gagawin nila ng butihing gobernador ng Batangas na si Vilma Santos.

Malaking honor para sa kanya ang makasama ang Star for All Seasons, pero nadismaya si Lloydie nang malamang tinanggihan ni Luis Manzano ang gay role sa pelikula.

Ang balita namin, either November or December kukunan ang mga eksena sa Bronx, New York.

Pero mauuna raw siguro ipalabas ang pelikulang muli nilang pagtatambalan ni Sarah Geronimo after A Very Special Love.

Kung matutuloy, Valentine offering ito ng Star Cinema at Viva Films, pero hindi itatapat sa KC Concepcion-Richard Gutierrez starrer for GMA Films.

Baka raw end of January ipalabas ang balik-tambalang John Lloyd-Sarah, kaya walang tapatang magaganap, dahil kailangan ding proteksyunan ng Star Cinema ang artista nilang si KC.

Sinagot din ni Lloydie ang wish ni Mother Lily Monteverde ng Regal Films na pagtambalin sila ni Marian Rivera.

Si Marian ay contract star ng Regal. Pinayagan daw ni Mother si Angel Locsin na gumawa sa Star Cinema para mahiram niya si John Lloyd sa film arm ng ABS-CBN.

Nang malaman niya ito, na-excite ang young actor na matagal na palang crush si Marian. Saka, type raw niyang ang ganu’ng set-up para matupad ang pangarap na makatrabaho ang mga taga-ibang network.

Sabagay, sa Regal lang naman nangyayari ang pagsasama ng mga artista ng GMA-7 at ABS-CBN 2, ’di ba?

Ibang-iba na talaga si Lloydie ngayon. Mas mature na at marami nang natutunan sa buhay. Bukod sa effective actor, in demand din siyang product endorser.

Tuwang-tuwa nga raw ang Biogesic, dahil triple ang naging sales nila mula nang i-endorse niya. Humahataw din ang Greenwich sa sales, huh.

Linggo na lang ang pahinga ni Lloydie, pero nasa ASAP pa rin siya. Pagkatapos ng show, saka pa lamang niya nakakasama ang pamilya at mga kaibigan.

Actually, isa ang pagiging dedicated sa pamilya sa mga rason kung bakit siya kinuhang endorser ng Greenwich. Tabing-Ilog days pa sila interesado sa actor at ito na ang kinukuha nilang mag-grace ng opening ng mga outlet sa iba’t ibang parte ng Pilipinas.

Guwapo at karinyoso kasi si John Lloyd, hindi nagdaramot sa fans na lumalapit para magpa-picture o magpapirma ng autograph.

‘Apat na Sikat’ now

IF there was “Apat na Sikat” during my time, there is now what you call “apat na sikat na love teams.”

The former composed of Maribel Aunor, Dondon Nakar, Winnie Santos and Arnold Gamboa; while the latter consists of the love teams of John Lloyd Cruz-Sarah Geronimo, Richard Gutierrez-KC Concepcion, Piolo Pascual-Angel Locsin and Dingdong Dantes-Marian Rivera.

Among today’s screen couples, John Lloyd Cruz-Sarah Geronimo and Richard Gutierrez-KC Concepcion have already made it at the box office.

The movie “A Very Special Love” has made John Lloyd and Sarah the box-office love teams; but it was immediately overshadowed by the success of Richard-KC movie “For the First Time.” Both seem to be the movies to beat at this time. And even the two love teams are unquestionable thus far.

Now, the pressure is shifted to the love team of Piolo Pascual and Angel Locsin as they are now filming their first movie together tentatively titled “Land Down Under.” Whether they like it or not, they have to meet the expectations of their movie studio Star Cinema given the success of the aforementioned movies and love teams. While their TV team-up in the teleserye “Lobo” was a bit successful, they have yet to prove that their reel romance will bring more money to the producer.

This early, their horseback riding is now being hyped as if it’s something new to watch. The publicity slant is even on the insurance angle. Would people care for that?

Another popular pair under public scrutiny is that of Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera. No doubt about it, they enjoy the phenomenal success of their teleseryes “Marimar” and “Dyesebel.” Add to this the success of their jampacked-concert “Let’s Celebrate” held at the Araneta last week. They could have filled the big dome to the rafters. But that event was open to the public for free as their way of saying “thank you” to their fans.

Unlike John Lloyd-Sarah and Richard-KC, Piolo-Angel and Dingdong-Marian are now challenged if they too are hits on the wide screen. If they can also pack the cinemas full house; then they deserve to be on the list of today’s young superstars.

After all, television is free and cinema is not. So, would Piolo-Angel and Dingdong-Marian click in the movies? Just asking…

Piolo Pascual talks about 'Land Down Under'

Popular actor Piolo Pascual shared his excitement for his upcoming movie project with actress Angel Locsin entitled “Land Down Under.”

“Iba iyong pressure, iba iyong ‘Lobo’. But for a movie it’s a different challenge definitely all together,” Pascual told abs-cbnNEWS.com.

The actor said that aside from doing a first movie with Locsin, it’s also his first time to work with movie director Rory Quintos.

Pascual said that he and Locsin will be shooting in Bukidnon and in Darwin, Australia for their cowboy/cowgirl scenes.

“I’m looking forward to it, at first time ko po itong Bukidnon and we'll be filming in Australia as well. So it’s definitely a welcome challenge,” he said.

“I always look forward to the movies that I do, because iba lagi ang approach. And with ‘direk’ Rory you can be sure na it’s a nice movie na hindi pababayaan, after all her critically acclaimed movies."

Pascual shared that as preparations for his role in the movie, he and Locsin are now training for horseback-riding under Vic Barba and actress-equestrienne Mikee Cojuangco.

Pascual and Locsin do their trainings at Manila Polo Club.

They will also do some of the popular sports in Bukidon.

“Marami, all the sports they do in Bukidnon iyong how they pin down iyong bull or how they race with the horses. It’s gonna be pretty physical,” Pascual said.

The actor admitted he had some misgivings in portraying the role of cowboy, since he has to act as if he is really experienced and trained to be one.

“With the trainings that we’ve had for more than a month so far po ay nagugustuhan ko naman iyong pagho-horsebackriding. I never thought that I was really gonna enjoy, masakit at first,” he said.

Pascual shared that for the first day of his horseback riding training he got blisters since he didn’t know how to ride. But as time went by he got the hang of it.

“It's something that I enjoyed doing and I feel good knowing na hindi siya mahirap na trabaho kasi na-e-enjoy ko siya,” he said.

To ensure the safety of Pascual and Locsin the ABS-CBN management got them insured while doing the movie.
